A week off, magic and a treat for you

Published 7 months ago • 1 min read

Hi,

I'm feeling cheerful today. Today marks the start of heels week in our socks class (sign up here if you'd like to join us).

Heels and heel turns are a little bit magic. You start with a straight tube and with a few rows and a flick of your hook you make the fabric turn and curve: you can hardly fail to feel a bit proud of yourself, you created a textile engineering miracle!

I know lots of people are scared of the heel which is why I am really pleased to be running this class to be able to show people in a way that suits their learning style - we have a photo tutorial, written patterns and left and right handed videos taking you all the way through the process.

I'm hoping to see lots of lightbulb moments coming in soon!

Week off

Next week is half term here and I am taking the week off to spend with the children. I'm not going to be checking email or DMs but will reply as soon as I get back to my desk on Thursday 2nd November (yes I know that seems like more than a week off but Thursday and Friday are my only office hours for The Crochet Project)

This is a chance to rest and relax and hopefully come back to my desk fresh with ideas of crochet brilliance! I always feel nervous leaving the business to run itself for a week but I know it will be fine really. So no email next week and no class updates. Normal service resumes the week after.

A treat for you

With Storm Babet buffeting us here in the UK, this week feels like a good one to stay in and get cosy, get some crochet made to see you and your loved ones through the winter. To help with that I am offering all patterns and books in my cosy collection at half price until 2nd November.

Use the code GETCOSY at checkout to get 50% off anything in the collection.

So I will see you all in two weeks, have fun, be good!

Joanne

Hi, I'm sure that in the Christmas excitement you haven't exactly been waiting with baited breath for me to continue the countdown of my personal favourites from my career but let's pretend you have and all get excited for MY TOP FIVE! WOO HOO 5/ Log Off Shawl Mystery crochet a-longs were often when i got most creative and this one kept you all guessing in the best way. Its a pattern I will almost certainly make again as I tackle the residual stash that I've always kept for swatching ideas...

Hi, Again I want to start by thanking everyone who has sent and email or commented on a post lately - I have read them all but I am utterly behind on replying, I hope to catch up soon. But please know they are all very much appreciated. It's been a not unexpectedly emotional experience winding the business down. I've been reflecting a lot on what we achieved and I thought it would be nice this week to share with you some of my personal favourite designs. I've no idea how many items I have...

You guys! 🥲 Thank you so so much to each and every one of you who has taken the time out to write to me to wish me luck or tell me what The Crochet Project has meant to you. I've been sharing all of the messages with Kat so she gets to see too what a wonderful impact we made. Reading all of the messages has been a wonderful way to reflect on the past ten years of The Crochet Project and I wanted to share three of the things that came up the most in messages and those just happen to coincide...
